ARCHITECTURE WEEK IDEAS

ARCHITECTURE WEEK IDEAS

Earlier in the year, we promoted Architecture Week 2026; well, now is the time as Architecture Week is this week – April 12 – 18, 2026.

Architecture Week 2026 is a nationwide celebration of K-12 architecture and design education and outreach. Its intent is to inspire K-12 students to become future architecture and design professionals.

But, how can you participate and celebrate architecture?

  • Create social media (#architectureweek) posts using the social media toolkit
  • Contribute to an Amazon wish list for those seeking materials for their initiatives
  • Purchase an architecture related book and donate it to your local library.
  • Invite students to visit an architecture firm.
  • Contact your local AIA Component and inquire how you can volunteer.
  • Send a letter to local schools or libraries educating them about Architecture Week and inviting them to sign up for any of our virtual read-alouds
  • Actively engage with students during Architecture Week

An ever-evolving resource map and hundreds of resources for students, educators, parents, and professionals live on AIA’s K-12 webpage. This page is designed to share architecture and design initiatives, from Design Competitions to Summer Camps to Workshops, to an audience ranging from AIA members who wish to duplicate efforts locally to students looking for opportunities near them.

This year marks the third Architecture Week of its kind focused on K-12 outreach. In its second year, more than 20,000 students were introduced to architecture and design. In 2026, the goal of Architecture Week is to directly impact over 25,000 students across the nation.

If you are too late for this year, Architecture Week is an annual event typically held during April of each year.
